  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cumin

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a slow cooker, combine chicken, onion, garlic, ginger, tomato puree, butter, garam masala, turmeric, cumin, and salt.
  2. Stir well to combine and cover.
Cooking
  1. Cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
  2. Stir in the heavy cream before serving.
  3. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve over rice or with naan.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in spices and yogurt overnight before cooking. Feel free to add vegetables like spinach or peas for added nutrition. To enhance creaminess, try substituting coconut milk for some or all of the heavy cream.
