Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef use lean ground beef for less fat
  • 1 medium onion, chopped adds flavor and sweetness
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced fresh garlic preferred
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced can use any variety of mushrooms
  • 1 cup beef broth for a deeper flavor
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce adds umami flavor
  • 1 teaspoon paprika smoked paprika can add a nice touch
  • to taste Salt and pepper season to your preference
  • 1 cup sour cream for creaminess
  • 2 tablespoons flour to thicken the sauce
  • 8 ounces egg noodles for serving

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat and transfer to a crockpot.
  2. Add chopped onion, garlic, and sliced mushrooms to the crockpot with the beef.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper. Pour over the beef and veggies in the crockpot.
Cooking
  1. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  2. In the last 30 minutes of cooking, mix sour cream and flour in a small bowl until smooth, then stir into the crockpot.
  3. Cook egg noodles according to package instructions.
  4. Serve the beef stroganoff over the cooked egg noodles.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a splash of white wine when cooking. Make sure to brown the beef well for a richer taste. Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or peas for added nutrition. If you prefer a thicker sauce, increase the amount of flour you add at the end.
