Ingredients
  

Danish Components
  • 1 sheet sheet of puff pastry
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Make sure it is softened for easy mixing.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen) Frozen blueberries work well too.
  • 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 ea egg (for egg wash)
  • to taste Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into squares.
  3. In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, combine blueberries with lemon juice.
Assembly
  1. Place a dollop of cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square, then add a spoonful of blueberries on top.
  2. Fold the corners of the pastry squares towards the center and pinch to seal.
  3. Brush with beaten egg for a golden finish.
Baking
  1. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Allow to cool, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

These danishes can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature. Pair with morning coffee or tea. For longer storage, keep in the refrigerator and reheat in the oven before serving. Feel free to experiment with different fruits or add a pinch of cinnamon for extra flavor.
