Main ingredients
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 can strawberry pie filling Alternatively, use cherry pie filling.
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Soften to avoid lumps.
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted For best taste and browning, use butter.
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whipped cream or Cool Whip Optional for serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the melted butter, cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Spread the strawberry pie filling evenly in the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  4. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the filling.
  5. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly on top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  2. Let it cool slightly before serving.
  3. Top with whipped cream if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze portions for up to 2 months. Thaw in the fridge before serving.
