Ingredients

For the cake
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter Use commercial peanut butter for best results.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup peanut butter cups, chopped (plus extra for topping) Chill before chopping for easier cutting.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional) Optional for extra chocolate flavor.
For serving
  • as needed whipped cream or vanilla ice cream Serve warm for best flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, peanut butter, melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and well combined.
  3. Fold in the chopped peanut butter cups and chocolate chips (if using). The batter will be thick but creamy.
  4. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle additional chopped peanut butter cups on top for extra indulgence.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly gooey. Avoid overbaking to keep it fudgy.
  2. Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

For a crunchier texture, sprinkle crushed peanuts or pretzels on top before baking. Make it gluten-free by using a gluten-free chocolate cake mix. Add a swirl of caramel by drizzling caramel sauce over the batter before baking. Use chunky peanut butter for extra texture.
