Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup brown sugar
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, oil, egg, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon.
Baking
  1. Pour half of the batter into a greased baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter.
  3. Pour the remaining batter on top, followed by the other half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  4. Swirl it gently with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Serving
  1. Slice the cake while warm and serve it with a drizzle of icing or a scoop of whipped cream.
  2. Pair it with hot coffee or tea.
  3. For an extra special treat, try it with a side of fresh fruit.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider adding some nuts or raisins to the batter. Use a toothpick to check baking doneness to avoid underbaking. If you prefer a sweeter cake, increase the amount of brown sugar. To impress your guests, serve the cake with a light glaze made from powdered sugar and milk.
