Ingredients

For the Cake
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
For the Cinnamon Swirl
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until combined.
  5. For the cinnamon swirl, mix the brown sugar and ground cinnamon in a small bowl.
Baking
  1. Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish, then sprinkle the cinnamon mixture on top.
  2. Pour the remaining batter over the cinnamon mixture.
  3. Using a knife, swirl the batter gently to create a ribbon effect.
  4. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Serving
  1. Slice the cake into squares and serve warm.
  2. You can drizzle a simple icing made from powdered sugar and milk on top for added sweetness.
  3. Enjoy alongside fresh fruit or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Use fresh cinnamon for the best flavor. Don't overmix the batter; a few lumps are okay. Add nuts like pecans or walnuts to the cinnamon swirl for extra texture. For a cream cheese icing, combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk to drizzle over the cake.
