  • 1 pound fresh figs, chopped Ripe figs are best for flavor.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional) Add for a spicier flavor.

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine chopped figs, sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 30-40 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  5. Transfer the fig jam to jars and let it cool completely before sealing.

Notes

Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Can be canned or frozen for longer storage. For a smoother jam, blend the mixture before cooling. Consider mixing in other fruits or nuts.
