- Place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until fully melted and smooth. Let it cool slightly.
- In a separate large bowl, beat the chilled heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold ⅓ of the whipped cream into the melted chocolate to lighten it. Then, fold in the remaining whipped cream until no streaks remain.
- Divide the mousse into serving glasses or bowls. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or up to overnight) before serving.
- Garnish with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or fresh berries before serving.
Notes
This mousse is quick to prepare and can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. For flavor variations, consider adding coffee or spices.
