Ingredients
  

For the 3 Ingredient Creamed Spinach
  • 1 lb fresh spinach (or frozen, thawed and drained) Use fresh spinach or well-drained, thawed frozen spinach.
  • 1 cup heavy cream Can substitute with half-and-half or whole milk for a lighter version.
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese Can be substituted with Gruyère or sharp cheddar for different flavors.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Optional seasoning.
For the Classic Creamed Spinach with Garlic & Nutmeg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Adds depth of flavor.
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg Enhances the richness.
  • 1 tbsp butter Used for sautéing garlic.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. If using fresh spinach, wash and roughly chop it. If using frozen, ensure it’s fully thawed and drained.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat the spinach over medium heat until wilted (about 3-5 minutes for fresh, 2 minutes for frozen).
  2. For Classic version, melt butter in a skillet, add garlic, and cook until fragrant (about 1 minute).
  3. Add spinach to the skillet and cook until wilted.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream, stir in Parmesan, and nutmeg (for Classic).
  5. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve hot, cooking for another 2-3 minutes until creamy and slightly thickened.

Notes

For a lighter version, swap heavy cream for half-and-half or whole milk. Add-ins like sautéed garlic or crumbled bacon can enhance the flavor.
