  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 1 tsp salt optional
  • 1–2 inches oil for frying vegetable or canola

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add warm water while stirring until a soft dough forms.
  2. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 2–3 minutes until smooth. Avoid overworking it.
  3. Cover with a damp towel and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into 4–6 equal balls. Flatten each into ½-inch-thick discs.
Cooking
  1. Heat 1–2 inches of oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry each disc for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  3. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil. Serve warm with toppings.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet or oven to restore crispiness.
