Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 cups high-quality semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional) Optional for added texture

Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare an 8×8 inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy removal.
  2. In a large, microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and cubed butter.
Cooking
  1. Microwave the mixture on high power for 1 minute. Remove and stir vigorously with a spatula.
  2. Continue microwaving in additional 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until the mixture is completely smooth and melted. This usually takes 2-3 intervals total.
  3. Once smooth, stir in the vanilla extract and sea salt. Fold in nuts if using.
Setting
  1. Quickly pour the fudge into your prepared pan and use the spatula to spread it into an even layer.
  2. Let the fudge cool at room temperature for about 1 hour, then transfer to the refrigerator to set completely for at least 2-3 hours.
  3. Using the parchment paper overhang, lift the fudge block from the pan. Place it on a cutting board and slice into 1-inch squares.

Notes

For flavor twists, try dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or peanut butter chips. Consider add-ins like dried cherries, peppermint candies, or marshmallows. Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top for a gourmet finish.
