  • 1 can refrigerated biscuits Use a good quality brand.
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage Use a good quality breakfast sausage for the best flavor.
  • 2 cups milk Can substitute with chicken broth or non-dairy milk.
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Adjust to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Adjust to taste.

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Can try different cheeses like pepper jack or mozzarella.

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Once cooked, whisk in the flour, garlic powder, and onion powder until combined.
  4. Gradually add the milk, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. In a greased baking dish, cut the biscuits into quarters and layer them at the bottom.
  6. Pour the sausage gravy over the biscuits, ensuring they are evenly covered.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown and the casserole is bubbling.
  2. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

This casserole is best served warm. You can pair it with fresh fruit or a simple green salad. For extra flavor, add hot sauce.
