Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a standard 9x5 inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour and sugar until well combined.
Mixing
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the room-temperature beer.
- Gently stir with a wooden spoon or spatula until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
Baking
- Transfer the thick batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth out the top.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cooling
- Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For alternative flour, combine 3 cups of all-purpose flour with 4 ½ teaspoons of baking powder and 1 ½ teaspoons of salt. Add-ins like shredded cheese, herbs, or bacon can be mixed in before baking.
