  • 4 pounds beef brisket Choose a well-marbled brisket for best tenderness.
Spices
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
Cooking Supplies
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For searing the brisket.
  • 1 cup beef broth To keep the brisket moist during baking.
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce For serving.

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket.
  4. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on both sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.
Cooking
  1. Place the brisket in a roasting pan and add beef broth. Cover tightly with foil.
  2. Bake in the oven for 3-4 hours, or until tender.
Resting and Serving
  1. Remove from the oven and let rest for 30 minutes before slicing.
  2. Serve with barbecue sauce on the side.

Notes

Store leftover brisket in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days. To reheat, warm it in the oven or microwave, adding a little beef broth if it seems dry. You can customize the flavors with different barbecue sauces.
