Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips and nuts (if using) with a spatula.
Baking
- Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden and the centers remain soft.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Freeze for longer storage.
