  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure the butter is softened for easier mixing.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
Mix-ins
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) Optional for added texture.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts (if using) with a spatula.
Baking
  1. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 9-11 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden and the centers remain soft.
  3. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Freeze for longer storage.
