Method
Preparation
- In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar until fully emulsified. If using garlic, add it now.
- Place your steak(s) in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it’s fully coated. For best results, marinate for at least 2 hours (or up to 12 hours in the fridge).
Cooking
- Remove the steak from the marinade (discard the used marinade) and pat dry with a paper towel.
- Cook using your preferred method—grill, pan-sear, or broil—until it reaches your desired doneness.
Serving
- Let the steak rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing. This ensures juiciness. Serve with your favorite sides.
Notes
For variations, consider adding 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar and 1 tsp smoked paprika for a sweet & smoky twist, 1 tbsp fresh rosemary or thyme for an herb-infused flavor, or 1 tsp red pepper flakes for a spicy kick. Use lemon or lime juice as a substitute for balsamic vinegar.
