For the bagels
  • 2 cups self-rising flour (or all-purpose flour + 3 tsp baking powder + 1 tsp salt) Use self-rising flour for best results.
  • 2 cups Greek yogurt (full-fat for best texture) Regular yogurt can be strained to achieve similar thickness.
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash) Beaten to brush on bagels before baking.
Optional toppings
  • sesame seeds, poppy seeds, everything bagel seasoning, coarse salt Add to bagels before baking.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the self-rising flour and Greek yogurt. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead lightly for about 2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then poke a hole in the center and stretch it into a bagel shape.
  5. Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the shaped bagels. Add your favorite toppings.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  2. Let them cool for 5 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Keep in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Customize with toppings or mix-ins like garlic powder or cheese.
